Eid will be celebrated on Wednesday 31 August 2011. We can confirm you that the message regarding the moon being sighted in Indonesia was incorrect and in Malaysia too the moon has not been sighted, although Malaysia has announced Eid for today but, its being confirmed that they are following the calculation method rather than the sighting of the moon. Hence we will stick to the sunnah of Muhammad (PBUH) and will complete the 30 days of Ramadan. We thank Allah (SWT) that he allowed us to complete the whole 30 days of Ramadan and we pray to Him Almighty to accept our Ramadan and forgive our sins.

The Eid prayer will be held at 7:30am (sharp) on Wednesday 31 August 2011 at Illawarra Hockey Stadium, Waples Road,Unanderra. 2526 NSW.

There have been reports that the moon was sighted in Indonesia and Malaysia. The report of Indonesia has been REJECTED [http://moonsighting.com/1432shw.html]. We are still trying to confirm the reports in Malaysia but still a solid evidence can not be found. So we will continue to fast on Tuesday 30th August inshAllah and pray that Allah(SWT) accepts our Ramadan and forgives any mistakes that we made.

No sighting of the moon has been reported. Council of Imams NSW & VIC have announced that the Eid will be on Wednesday. Based on this announcement Omar Mosque has decided to celebrate Eid on Wednesday 31 August 2011 inshAllah.

Omar Mosque committee, MAWU, EOL, IMWA would to like all brothers and sisters this Friday26th of Aug 2011 to dinner and spritual retreat (Itikaf) at Omar Mosque. There will be lectures by Sheikh Sami and Sheikh Jamil. Completion of the recitation of the Holf Quran (Khatma) and Dua’a for the khatam. All this is in the hope that we may find Laylatul Qadr and reap its rewards.

Night prayer will be held at the mosque from 3:15am each night. This will continue until the last night of Ramadan.

As the sheikh (Qaari/Reciter) from Egypt are living in house number 5, so we will be moving the iftar for sisters from house number 5 to house number 7 inshAllah. Please be sure that house number 5 will only be used as a parking place for the sisters and no males are allowed to park their cars there. As for house number 7, parking is not allowed there, This is due to security concers of constant pedestrian activity in house number 7.

We welcome our beloved sheikh, Sheikh Saami from Saudi Arabia to Wollongong once again in this blessed month. Most of us remember Sheikh Saami from Ramadan last year when we learnt from his lectures, Friday sermons and long and intense question answer sessions after Fajar prayer. May Allah give us an opportunity learn more from his knowledge.

Prayer area for sisters is available in the house next to mosque (7 Foley Street). The entrance is from the back side. No men are allowed to accompany them at any time. For safety concerns parking is not available at this house. A dedicated ladies only parking is available at house # 5 Foley Street.
