Abu Qatadah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about fasting the day of Arafat and he said, “It will expiate the sins of the previous and upcoming years.” [Sahih Muslim]

Following ANIC the 9th of Dhul Hijjah is going to be Saturday, 15th June.

Following local moon sighting of Australia it will be Monday, 17th June.

Iftar will be served at Omar Mosque both days to cater for everyone inshaAllah

Please fast this blessed day and come to Omar Mosque for a delicious iftar.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our brother, Yusseef Siaj, son of Khalid and Nejah and brother of Suzanne and Adam Siaj.

Inna lillahi wa Inna illaihi raji’oon

انا لله وانا اليه راجعون

Janaza (Funeral) prayer will be held today, 15th May, Straight after Dhuhar 1pm at Masjid As-Salaam followed by Burial at Kembla Grange Cemetery 2:30pm.

May Allah grant him Jannatul Fridaus and his family and friends patience and ease during their time of Hardship.

Please fulfill the rights of your brother and attend the funeral.

For the brothers and sisters who follow local moonsighting, Masjid Omar Comittee would like to announce that the moon has not been sighted in Australia.

Eid will be on Thursday 11 April inshAllah.

Parking for Eid Prayer Wednesday 10 Apr

As it is a working day, we have been permitted to park only at P4.

P4 is at the Western Entrance of the University of Wollongong. You are allowed to drop off any family members in the drop-off lane in front of the Sports Hub, but then will need to park at P4.

P4 is 5-7 minutes walk from the hall, so please be conscious of time.

Please be respectful of the traffic and pedestrian management team. Fines will apply to those parking outside the designated P4.

Ramadan Announcements

Start Ramadan calculation

As announced by ANIC the first of Ramadan will be Tue 12 March per the calculation. First Taraweeh prayer will be offered on Mon 11 March.

Start Ramadan moon Sighting

Moon was sighted in Tennant Creek, Australia, on 11th of March. Ramadan begins per moonsighting on 12th of March as well.

Maghrib Prayer

Maghrib prayer will NOT be delayed in Ramadan. It will continue to be 5 minutes after azan.

Iftar

Iftar will be served everyday straight after Maghrib prayer throughout the month of Ramadan.

No Coke products to be served in the masjid

No Pepsi products to be served in the masjid

No Medjool dates to be served in the masjid
