This is another oppertunity for us muslims to seek forgiveness of our sins from Allah (SWT). As Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of `Arafah. He said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year” [Muslim]. Hence inshAllah Omar Mosque will be providing iftar on Saturday 5th of November 2011 which is the day of Arafah . All brothers and sisters who fast are invited to do iftar at Omar Mosque.

If you want to perform Qurban this year through Omar Mosque please register your name by filling the form available on the notice board in Omar Mosque. Payments can be made later. You can either do Qurban here in Sydney for which the meat will be cut and delivered at the mosque next day or the Qurban can be done in Pakistan where the meat will be distributed among the recent flood victims. Following are the rates:

1) Local, cut and delivery: $140/-

2 In Pakistan: $170/-

Friday night lessons by Sheikh Jamil will recommence at Omar Mosque from tonight inshAllah. All brothers and sisters are welcome to attend the lesson.

Building 7 will remain open for all sisters to come and perform the Friday prayer. We apologies as in the previous weeks the door to the building was not open. The entrance to this building is from the back. InshAllah from this week onwards, every Friday  the door to the building will be unlocked before 1pm.

Due to the road work in front of the mosque, parking is prohibited by the council on both sides of Foley Street at any time. Gate to building 5 (third building) will remain open during this period so you can park your car there at any time. This means that you can park your car in the mosque itself, across the street in Hill View Avenue or at building 5. Please keep in mind that building 7 (the one in the middle) cannot be used for parking at anytime. It’s strictly prohibited for anyone to park car over there also, no males should enter the premises without permission.

A sister only Quran class will be held every Friday between 10:00am and 11:30am at Omar Mosque Wollongong, Building 5. The classes will be held both in English and Arabic. These classes will run only during school terms. All sisters are welcome to join this class and be among the best of the Muslims. As The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

Eid will be celebrated on Wednesday 31 August 2011. We can confirm you that the message regarding the moon being sighted in Indonesia was incorrect and in Malaysia too the moon has not been sighted, although Malaysia has announced Eid for today but, its being confirmed that they are following the calculation method rather than the sighting of the moon. Hence we will stick to the sunnah of Muhammad (PBUH) and will complete the 30 days of Ramadan. We thank Allah (SWT) that he allowed us to complete the whole 30 days of Ramadan and we pray to Him Almighty to accept our Ramadan and forgive our sins.
